Andreas Gettkant, 59, Master Degree in Geography (University of Bonn), married, one daughter. Since 2018 Director of the Global Projects “Private Business Action for Biodiversity” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Bonn on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for The Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
From June 2012 until February 2018 Coordinator of GIZ for the biodiversity cluster in Mexico, Director for different bilateral biodiversity projects on “Access and Benefit Sharing – Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol“, “Valuation of Ecosystem Services in Mexico´s Protected Natural Areas, and “Mainstreaming Biodiversity into Agriculture”.
Since 1997 in GTZ he was head of the sector project „Implementing the Biodiversity Convention“, senior planning officer and senior advisor in Honduras and Brazil. Before this editor at the Development and Peace Foundation in Bonn (1991-97) and head of the Biodiversity working group of the German NGO Forum on Environment and Development (1993-1997).
